Helen Simoneau, Guest Artist-in-Residence
Helen Simoneau is a native of Québec and artistic director of her company Helen Simoneau Danse. She is a Bogliasco Fellow, a North Carolina Arts Council Choreographic Fellow, first place winner for choreography at the International Solo-Tanz Theater Festival in Germany, and has been a resident artist at Baryshnikov Arts Center and Bates Dance Festival in Maine. She has been commissioned by The Juilliard School, the American Dance Festival, the Bessie Schönberg Residency at The Yard, Springboard Danse Montréal, and the Swiss International Coaching Project in Zurich. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally at many venues including The Guggenheim Museum (NYC), Dance Place (DC), Joyce SoHo (NYC), Tangente (Montréal), The Aoyama Round Theatre (Tokyo), the L.I.G. Art Hall Busan (South Korea), Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out (MA), PACT-Zollverein in Essen (Germany), and Athens Intl. Dance Festival (Greece). Simoneau will teach modern classes and set a work on Goucher dancers to be performed on the Goucher Repertory Dance Ensemble Concert on November 10 and 11. Master classes are open to high-intermediate and advanced modern dancers. Class fee: $20.
