Helicon’s 32nd Reunion Winter Solstice Concert with members of Charm City Junction.
Helicon's 32nd Annual Winter Solstice Concerts. 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Helicon is Ken Kolodner (hammered dulcimer, fiddle, and hammered mbira), Chris Norman (wooden flutes, whistle, small pipes, and vocals), and Robin Bullock (guitar, mandolin, cittern, and piano). Helicon toured widely throughout North American and Europe for many years and reunited annually in Baltimore for these concerts. They are internationally recognized as among the finest practitioners of their respective instruments, recording over 50 recordings. Joining Helicon will be the fabulous West Virginia native Rachel Eddy (fiddle, vocals, guitar; www.racheleddy.com), members of Charm City Junction (www.charmcityjunction.com) including Kolodner’s son Brad Kolodner (banjo, fiddle, gourd banjo, and vocals), and Sean McComiskey (Irish button accordion). Rachel Eddy performs regularly with Ken and Brad and specializes in Appalachian old-time music. The Winter Solstice concert repertoire is wildly varied including traditional and seasonal music from around the world (including Appalachian or old-time, Bluegrass, Celtic, Quebecois, Europe, Africa, the Far East and elsewhere!). Joining in the fun for his 7th Winter Solstice concert in his bright red pants is North American Step Dance Champion Jonathan Srour. Do not miss this Baltimore tradition that attracts nearly 2,000 people annually!
