Baltimore Chamber Orchestra: 3 Serenades

Madeline Adkins, violin
Markand Thakar, conductor

ELGAR-Serenade for Strings

BERNSTEIN-Serenade: after Plato’s ‘Symposium’
(for solo violin, harp, percussion, and strings)

TCHAIKOVSKY-Serenade for Strings

Madeline Adkins graces our stage as soloist once again and brings her remarkable talents to Bernstein’s dramatic Serenade: after Plato’s ‘Symposium’ (for solo violin, harp, percussion, and strings). Elgar’s Serenade, which opens the program, is a study in elegance and is one of the composer’s more popular works. Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, one of the most beloved pieces in the string repertoire, is rich with towering chords and character and a fitting end to a varied, powerful program.
