Darkness to Light: Mozart Requiem

The Goucher College Choirs and the Deer Creek Chorale and Youth Choir will join together to present Mozart’s monumental Requiem. With arts organizations eagerly emerging from the pandemic, the choirs present a program centered on the transition of darkness to light. The program will begin with Mozart’s iconic work, the work he was working to complete before his death. The transcendent score features yearning, bellowing depths of emotion and illuminating, resplendent beams of joy. The Deer Creek Youth Choir will join the other choirs on stage for the pandemic-delayed world premiere of Daniel McDavitt’s From Mountain to Forest to River, with texts by John Muir, Glen Nelson, and Christina Rossetti. Performing together with an orchestra of Baltimore-area musicians, under the direction of Dr. McDavitt and Martha Banghart, the concert promises to be a rejuvenating event to celebrate the remounting of live, concert performance in grand scale at Kraushaar Audiorium.
