Debating for Democracy Workshop
Goucher College, in partnership with Project Pericles, will host the Debating for Democracy (D4D) ™ on the Road workshop on Friday, March 1st. This daylong workshop will provide both novice and seasoned activists with the tools and tactics they need to get their message across to policy makers, community leaders, and the public.
Project Pericles is excited to be partnering with Midwest Academy, a national training institute committed to advancing the struggle for social, economic, and racial justice. From local neighborhood groups to statewide and national organizations, Midwest Academy has trained over 25,000 grassroots activists from hundreds of organizations and coalitions. Midwest Academy teaches an organizing philosophy, methods, and skills that enable ordinary people to actively participate in the democratic process.
The D4D on the Road™ workshops, hosted at Periclean colleges and universities, provide training in how to develop effective advocacy and education campaigns. Experts empower participants to advance their particular issue or cause. Participants will focus on practicing concrete skills, including strategic planning, power mapping, grassroots organizing, and message development.
The workshop will run from 10 AM to 4 PM on Friday, March 1st in Heubeck Multipurpose Room. Enrollment is limited to 40 participants, and is free of charge.
The workshop is open to all students, faculty and staff. To sign up for the D4D workshop, please use the following link.
