Goucher College Choir Performance

The Goucher College Choirs present “Peaceful Songs,” a program of choral music spanning five centuries. Each piece conveys a peaceful expression invoking themes of sunlight, moonlight, devotion, community, and justice from a wide range of sacred and secular texts from around the world.

The Chamber Singers will begin the concert with masterworks from composers throughout music history, including Tallis, Telemann, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. The Goucher Chorus will present Fauré’s ethereal Cantique de Jean Racine, and as the keynote work of the concert, Impressionist prodigy Lili Boulanger’s Hymne au Soleil. The concert will close with songs of peace from Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, and Shaker traditions.

The performance will be held on Thursday, November 14, at 8pm in the Haebler Memorial Chapel at Goucher College. Admission is free and open to all.
