How do you tell a story about your story? Writers Brendan O'Meara and Kim Cross share strategies on creating a successful pitch — and answer questions about your projects.

Brendan O'Meara is a writer, editor, podcaster, and the author of Six Weeks in Saratoga and The Front Runner: The Life of Steve Prefontaine. He also hosts The Creative Nonfiction Podcast, on which he's interviewed hundreds of nonfiction storytellers such as Susan Orlean, David Grann, Jericho Brown, Chuck Klosterman, Andre Dubus III, Patrick Radden Keefe, Laura Hillenbrand, and Mary Karr. His work has appeared in Creative Nonfiction, Brevity, Writer’s Digest, Trail Runner Magazine, Longreads, and Mountain Home Magazine, among others.

Kim Cross is a full-time freelance writer and author of narrative nonfiction. Her work has been recognized in “Best of” lists by the the New York Times, the Columbia Journalism Review, The Sunday Longread, Longform, Apple News Audio, and Best American Sports Writing. She teaches feature writing for Harvard Extension School’s graduate journalism program and is a workshop instructor for the Larry McMurtry Literary Center in Archer City, Texas and the Sawtooth Writing Retreat in Ketchum, Idaho.
