We invite Goucher students, faculty, and staff to join us for a roundtable conversation about how we navigate language and terminology in the classroom. The words we choose to use in the classroom space are tools of power that are shaped by the positionality and identities of both instructors and students. The faculty participants in this session welcome the Goucher community to join them as they wrestle with the complex issues surrounding the contested and evolving nature of language, the intentionality with which we use our language, and what is at stake for our classroom communities.

This conversation is intended to be just one moment in an ongoing series of conversations. The day after this Tuesday evening event, Dr. Peifer and Dr. Vick will facilitate follow-up events for students and faculty/staff respectively. More information about these two events will follow.
