Lavender Ceremony

Lavender Ceremony is an annual celebration conducted on numerous campuses to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual students and to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the college. During the ceremony, graduating seniors will be donned with a Lavender cord as a recognition of their achievements and symbol of their overall journey at Goucher.

Please note: There are four Affinity Graduation Ceremonies held annually: Lavender Ceremony, Donning of the Kente, Latinx Triunfos, and InterConnect Ceremony. Graduating Goucher College students may participate in any and all Affinity Graduation Ceremonies that they self-identify with.

Please visit the Affinity Graduation Ceremonies 2022 webpage for more information regarding descriptions of the celebratory events, schedule of ceremonies, and helpful Frequently Asked Questions for participants and their guests.

If you are a graduating senior who is interested in participating in any of our Affinity Graduation Ceremonies, please sign up using the form below.
