Mary Zimmerman’s The Secret in the Wings imaginatively weaves seven fairy tales into a theatrical world of mystery, wonder, and sensuality--where kings and queens and their spirited progeny navigate through forests and kingdoms and the depths of the unconscious on journeys of self discovery.

Senior Theatre majors, along with other talented musicians, actors, and designers, make up the creative ensemble. This production, through image, music, and poetic text, balances on the threshold of lived experience and the fairy tale. This production is the capstone for students majoring in Theatre, and is part of the story-telling semester. The Secret in the Wings is for adults, but children are welcome.      

Mary Zimmerman is a MacArthur Fellow and master storyteller whose work as a director and theatrical adapter has earned her numerous prizes, including a Tony Award. Her works encompass some of the most enduring stories of all time, including Ovid’s The Metamorphoses, One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights), Treasure Island, and The Jungle Book.
