The Revolution of ’28: Al Smith, American Progressivism, and the Coming of the New Deal

Dr. Robert Chiles, historian of American Progressivism, will speak on his recently published book (Cornell University Press, 2018), in which he argues that the origins of the New Deal lay in a progressive coalition assembled by the New York Governor Alfred E. Smith when he made a bid for the U.S. Presidency in 1928.
